Private Dock Permitting
Background:
The construction and upgrades of private moorage facilities on Crown land requires provincial authorization from the BC government under the Land Act. This includes docks, boat ways/ramps, or boat lifts that are designed for private residential use. To receive a Land Act authorization for new or existing private moorage facilities, a tenure can be granted through two permitting pathways: a Specific Permission application, or by means of a General Permission.
Dynamic Ocean is working with dock manufacturers to support the construction of two new private moorage facilities and upgrade one existing private moorage facility in southern British Columbia.
Services Provided:
Dynamic Ocean is proud to support the manufacturers through the regulatory process for the development of these private moorage facilities. Each dock presents a unique set of permitting requirements, shaped by its specific geographical location. Our permitting support includes:
A General Permission compliance verification for a new private moorage facility
A Specific Permission application to the BC Government for a new private moorage facility
A pre-approval application to the Shishalh Nation for new private moorage facilities located in the swiya
As the designated Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), Dynamic Ocean also leads the Marine Habitat Assessment required for both the General and Specific permission pathway. Our team conducts our field assessment using in-house survey vessels running intertidal and subtidal ROV transects to characterize site habitat and species diversity. We combine our field assessment with a desktop analysis to produce detailed, regulatory-compliant habitat assessments.
From start to finish, Dynamic Ocean delivers technical precision and regulatory expertise that ensures every aspect of the project meets provincial and First Nation governance requirements.
